Since ILARC's formation in 1977, the Association has maintained a significant role in government affairs. The Association's executive director and staff works in Springfield during the legislative session to monitor bills affecting Illinois' regional councils and in promoting the advocacy efforts of its membership.
ILARC recognizes and respects the differences between the various geographical areas of Illinois and the responsibilities of each member regional council to advocate for policies and procedures which are considered appropriate for their regions. ILARC is committed to working toward uniformity in policies that improve the quality of life for all Illinois residents.
LEGISLATIVE BULLETINS
Legislative bulletins are published by the Association periodically during Session to alert and inform its membership on issues of concern to regional councils pending before the state legislative body. These bulletins may urge membership action in contacting elected officials at the state level.
LEGISLATIVE DIRECTORY
The legislative directory is published every two years and ordered at the request of individual members. ILARC encourages its membership to maintain open communication with appointed and elected officials at all levels of government.
The ILARC membership directory is also circulated to local governments and state legislators to facilitate contact with the Association's membership and make readily available to him/her the Association member in their district.
POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE
ILARC is not registered as a lobbying entity pursuant to the Lobbyist Registration Act (25 ILCS 170) and does not maintain a Political Action Committee.
